Metro rail is a unique transport which is rapid transit system having dedicated right-of-way that primarily or traditionally runs below the subway, tube, or underground. Metro trains are avaiable for short distance travelling. Specifically, a metro is designed to run in metropolitan cities to connect the distances within the city and its suburbs areas.

Metro rail is rapid transit and a frequent electric rail system.
History of Metrorail:

Charles Pearson was proposed for the first subway system in London. In 1969, it began building the rail system. In 1976 started operating the first phase of Metrorail. The electric underground railways were ‍available in Athens, Berlin, Boston, Buenos Aires, Glasgow, Hamburg, New York City Budapest, Istanbul, Liverpool, Paris, and Philadelphia by World War I.

The Metropolitan Railway was the first urban underground railway. It startedoperations on January 10, 1863.

 At first, it was unhealthy and uncomfortable for passengers and some operating staff. Between 1863 and 1890, overcome this problem. In 1884, the Metropolitan Railway developed the inner circle around central London.
The biggest metro station in the world

The largest metro station is the Paris Métro-RER station in France. The New York City has the greatest number of stations with 472 in operation.

China is the most metro systems with 46 in operation. The Shanghai Metro is the world’s longest metro network and the highest annual ridership at 2.83 billion trips. Japan is the world’s busiest metro system in Tokyo Subway.

The world’s fastest public train is Shanghai Maglev in China. it’s carrying passengers using magnetic levitation rather than conventional steel wheels on steel rails.

Dhaka Metro Rail Launched

Dhaka Metro Rail is officially known as the Dhaka Metro. It is a mass rapid transit system serving Dhaka. It is expected to reduce congestion in the busy city Dhaka. It is planned of the long (20-year) Strategic Transport Plan (STP). Outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

The first phase of Dhaka Metro’s MRT Line 6 have set of commercial operations on 28th December 2022. The network is planned for contain six lines. The two are under construction.

 The construction of MRT Line 6’s second is supposed to be completed by 2023. It is being inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The first part of 12km track stretches from north Uttara to Agargaon. According to Japan International Cooperation Agency, 14 trains can operate every three minutes. About 60,000 passengers can ride every hour in both directions.

The technology of Continuous Automatic Train Control System (CATC) which is based on Communication based Train Control System. Which includes also Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) subsystems using radio communication between Trackside and Train. A total of 2.63 billion (approximately) people travelled annually in metro systems across India’s fifteen big cities. A the end of the day we see how fast are going the era with its new invention.
